The standard behind Sonthuy Beauty.
Sonthuy Beauty is led by Son, a founder who has spent her life refining one quiet idea: that beauty work, done with real care, can change how someone feels about themselves.
A craft she started young.
Son was born in 1989 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and found this work early. She was just 18, right after high school, when she stepped into the beauty field, and what began as a fascination quickly became a calling.
She started by studying permanent makeup, and it was her early clients, women who came to her with poorly shaped or unnatural previous brows, who shaped the direction of her career. Their stories became the reason she focused so intently on natural results and correction and restoration work, a focus that still defines Sonthuy today.
She spent four years honing her technique at Dong Phuong Beauty in Vietnam, then continued her education internationally, training in Russia, Germany, South Korea, Thailand, and the United States. Her father shaped how she approached both the craft and business, through his integrity, work ethic, and devotion to family.
By the height of her career in Vietnam, she owned and operated three salons, employed 19 staff members and instructors, and trained hundreds of beauty professionals, opening her first salon in District 11, Ho Chi Minh City in 2011, founding Linda Academy in 2014, and a third salon in Tan Phu District in 2017. She went on to become an international educator, keynote speaker, competition judge, and Head of the Jury for beauty championships in Vietnam, Thailand, and South Korea.
That early start gave her something you can't rush: more than 18 years of practiced experience, and a standard she holds herself to with every client, every appointment, every detail.
Starting over in a new country.
In 2019, Son made one of the hardest decisions of her career, to leave an established name behind and begin again in the United States. She settled in Tucson to start a new chapter, continuing to teach advanced permanent makeup courses online and furthering her education in the newest PMU techniques.
Starting over wasn't easy. She closed her three beauty academies during the COVID-19 pandemic and rebuilt her career from the ground up in a new country, continuing to learn and refine her craft through every setback.
What she carried with her wasn't a client list, it was her experience, her reputation, and a promise to never stop learning. Everything else was rebuilt one client at a time.
From Vietnam to two Tucson studios.
That history is why Sonthuy feels different today. Every appointment is built around calm guidance, careful technique, and the quiet reassurance that you are in expert hands.
Detail is the whole craft.
Ask anyone who has sat in her chair and the word that comes up is the same: precise. Son is meticulous by nature, mapping a brow, choosing a pigment, shaping a lash line. She would rather take the extra minute than leave a result that's only almost right.
That patience is the brand. It's why a Sonthuy appointment feels calm and unhurried, and why clients leave feeling genuinely cared for rather than processed.
Family at the center.
For Son, family isn't separate from the work, it's the reason for it. She believes true success is measured not only by business achievements but by taking care of the people you love, creating opportunities for others, and treating every client like family.
She met her husband, Joshua, in 2022, and they married in March 2023. A proud U.S. Army veteran, Joshua oversees operations, systems, and business growth while supporting Son's vision, and his encouragement helped her rebuild after one of the most difficult seasons of her life. After they began their relationship, the two of them doubled down, working hard every day to build the Sonthuy salons together. Sonthuy Beauty is proudly family-built and veteran-owned.
Together they own and operate two beauty studios and a licensed beauty school approved by the Arizona State Board, she leads the artistry and education, he keeps the foundation strong, a partnership clients feel in how smoothly everything runs.

As Sonthuy grew, Son opened a second studio so each kind of care could have a space built around it.

Son and Joshua are relentless workers, but the goal was never just to grow. It's to reach and help as many people as they can, to give every client who walks in the same care, confidence, and quiet luxury they'd want for their own family.
